COMMUNITY
Rex Foundation

The Rex Foundation aims to help secure a healthy environment, promote individuality in the arts, provide support to critical and necessary social services, assist others less fortunate than ourselves, protect the rights of indigenous people and ensure their cultural survival, build a stronger community, and educate children and adults everywhere.
In the wake of Bobby Weir's passing, we felt a deep responsibility to offer a positive change to the world, mirroring the spirit of community and philanthropy that Weir championed throughout his life.
On Saturday, February 7, at the Fox Theater in Oakland, we announced a $10,000 donation to the Rex Foundation in honor of Bobby Weir. The contribution was presented to The Rex Foundation Executive Director Cameron Sears as we aim to transform the collective grief and gratitude of the music community into a force for tangible good.
Our donation is intended to support the ongoing work of the Rex Foundation to ensure its mission of granting vital funds - over $10 million providing over 1400 grants to different organizations all over the world - to allow these community organizations to continue to flourish. We encourage others to make donations to Rex Foundation to continue the support they need. Notably, right after our check presenting ceremony, Rex Foundation immediately received a matching $10,000 donation from an anonymous source!
Thank you all for your continued support of Rex and DSO!

Grateful Guitars: The Matt "Curfew" Reynolds Matching Gift Program

The Grateful Guitars Foundation proudly honors the life and legacy of Matt “Curfew” Reynolds, a beloved singer/songwriter, tour manager, and pillar of the jam band community through the Matt Reynolds Matching Gift Program.
This program invites fans, friends, and supporters to make a direct impact by funding half the cost of an instrument for a deserving musician, with GGF matching the remaining amount. Together, we can put world-class instruments into the hands of players who will carry the music forward.

Music Heals International

Following Haiti’s devastating earthquake in 2010, MHI Founder and Executive Director, Sara Wasserman began volunteering in the country through J/P Haitian Relief Organization (J/P HRO). Sara used music as a tool to help children cope and find joy after this traumatic uprooting. After countless visits to the Port-au-Prince community of Delmas 32, she saw the unmistakable impact of music as Haiti began to heal and rebuild. Partnering with J/P HRO, Little Kids Rock and local Haitian educators, Sara started Music Heals International as a way to bring music education to the children of Delmas 32 and communities beyond.
Rock House Foundation

For 20 years the Rockhouse Foundation has been at the forefront of educational transformation in western Jamaica. Investing over US$10 million, transforming six public schools and the Negril Public Library.
This summer the Rockhouse Foundation continues its expansion of Jamaica’s FIRST FULL INCLUSION model pre-K through grade 12 school, Savanna-La-Mar Inclusive Academy (“Sav Inclusive”). Not only is this school one of a kind in Jamaica, it is among the first globally. With an estimated 240 million children with disabilities worldwide, the need for quality education to allow these children to reach their full potential is paramount. Equally importantly, Sav Inclusive’s very existence serves to help destigmatize children with disabilities, allowing them to learn, grow, and thrive alongside children without disabilities. We see the impact everyday within the school but also an inspiring new thread within the community of support, acceptance, and belonging.
The Sav Inclusive school is located in Savanna-la-Mar (Sav), the Capital city of Westmoreland, Jamaica’s western most parish. Sav is an historically volatile community, really a collection of discrete communities often in conflict with each other. There are limited services for neurodivergent and/or physically disabled children. Sav Inclusive is a bright light for many families who have long had no therapeutic options. Current enrollment is 225 students, with an anticipated ultimate population of 650 in pre-K through high school. Sav Inclusive’s waitlist exceeds its current enrolment, reflecting its reputation and the enormous need for its unique inclusive model.
