Cosmic New Year's Run

Not long after dancing off the turkey in NYC we will welcome in 2012 with a 4 night east coast NYE run. Stops include Baltimore on 12/28, Philadelphia on 12/29 (recreating a 3 set show including acoustic and electric sets) and 2 nights in Montclair, NJ. On the 30th we will play a special 3 set show that will kick off with an acoustic set. Then, on NYE we will bid good night to 2011 with a GD decade retrospective, recreating a classic set from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.

Thanksgiving Garden Weekend

Come dance off the turkey and trimmings with us in the Big Apple on November 25th and 26th as we drop into the Best Buy Theatre in Times Square. For these two special shows we will be recreating a classic show from the famed
Madison Square Garden. With over 20 years of Grateful Dead shows to pull from you will have to be there to share in the magic.

We wanted to share this news with our DSO family and community: Last night, Lisa Mackey’s mother passed away…She was able to spend time w her mom before she passed peacefully. Instead of sending flowers, for those interested, you could send a donation on behalf of BertiLOU Mackey to:

Approaching 2,000 shows...

On Saturday November 19th we will reach a new milestone in the history of Dark Star Orchestra. Our 2000th show! Join us at The State Theatre in Ithaca for this epic occasion. We are excited to celebrate in a city so rich in both Grateful Dead and DSO lore as it was home to the legendary 5/8/77 Barton Hall show which DSO recreated on the 30th anniversary, 5/8/2007, which was declared Grateful Dead Day in the town of Ithaca.

Cosmic New Year's Run Announcement

Join us as we close out 2011 with an epic east coast run of shows. On December 28 we drop into Rams Head Live in Baltimore, MD to kick things off in Charm City. From there we bring the love to our brothers and sisters in Philadelphia at the Electric Factory with a Recreation of a Classic 3 Set show including acoustic and electric sets. Then we close things out with two nights at the Wellmont Theatre in Montclair, NJ. On the 30th we will play a 3 Set Show kicking off with a an Acoustic Set. Our Cosmic NYE Celebration will feature Dark Star Orchestra Spanning the Decades... A 3-Set Show Recreating Classic Sets from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s.

Just in time for the start of the season, we’d like to announce our Last Rose of Summer Tour, which begins in September, and takes us through the warm sun of the Southwest. The Hearts of Summer Tour opens Friday with the inaugural show at Buffalo Place, and includes 3 nights in a row at Gratefulfest, where swimming and diving and fireworks and camping are woven together with music from some of our favorite acts including Keller Williams, Railroad Earth, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Rusted Root, Donna Jean Band, BoomBox, and more.
